Guide
How to use ATA Chapters, how ATA chapter numbers work and where the facts come from.
Using the site
Pick an aircraft type on the home page, then choose an ATA chapter. Each chapter page has a short scope, the main facts in numbered sections and a source list at the bottom.
- Search: use the search box in the top bar. It looks through type pages, chapter text and glossary terms, in English and Turkish, and ignores accents.
- Draft badge: a chapter marked draft has not finished source verification yet. Treat it as work in progress.
- Citations: a number such as [1] after a statement points to the matching entry in the source list on the same page. A fact without a source is not published.
- Language and theme: both can be changed from the top bar and are remembered in your browser.
ATA numbering
The ATA chapter system is a common way of numbering aircraft systems so that manuals from different manufacturers are organised alike. It is published as the ATA iSpec 2200 standard. Each two-digit number stands for one system or group: for example ATA 32 is Landing Gear and ATA 06 is Dimensions and Areas.
Numbers can be extended: ATA 32-10 is a sub-chapter and a third pair of digits narrows it to a subject. This site names chapters by the official chapter titles only; it does not reproduce standard or manual text.
Source policy
Only public sources are used: type certificate data sheets from aviation authorities, manufacturer public airport and maintenance planning data, the ATA chapter numbering standard and Part-66 training material. Every number, name and system description is tied to one of them, and each source is listed with its issue or revision and the date it was checked.
Licensed maintenance manuals are not used or copied. Forums and sources of unclear origin are not accepted. The site is a study aid and not a maintenance document. See the full list on the Sources page.
Terms
English Part-66 terms are the primary wording. On Turkish pages the Turkish equivalent follows in parentheses, for example line maintenance (hat bakımı). A separate glossary page does not exist yet; glossary terms appear in search results.
FAQ
Can I use this for maintenance work? No. It is for training and study only. Always use the approved manufacturer and operator documents.
Why is a chapter or type missing? Chapters are published only after their facts have sources. Types and chapters still in preparation are marked on the home page.
I found a mistake. What now? Check the cited source first; if the page disagrees with it, the page is wrong and the source wins.
